STATEMENT OF VISION FOR JAMAICA BIBLE SEMINARY

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the the world. Amen." Matt. 28:19-20

"TEACH, BAPTIZE AND TEACH" is the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ..

"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also." II Tim. 2:2

This verse if from an Evangelist to an Evangelist to train Evangelists to train other Evangelists. This is the perpetuity of the work of Evangelism.

Jamaica Bible Seminary's prime objective is to Teach the Word to capable leaders and to equip them with the necessary tools and then literally, "Get out of their way!" and let them carry on the work of the Gospel. This can happen in 4 stqges:

1. Pioneer Stage. To go where there is no established church and establish a New Testament Church. As people are converted to Christ, Leadership training is developed.

2. Paternal Stage. National leadership is developed through the Bible College and the local churches. The Board of Trustees supervises the institution as to Curriculum, Teachers, Meeting Location/Facilities and Funding. The Board has the major voice and vote in the College. As national leaders develop it is normal to move to Stage 3.

3. Partnership Stage. National leaders work as equals with the American staff. The American staff works with the national church on specific assignments but still reports to the sending group. The American staff may still be in charge of major mission projects involving a great deal of money. Often the work is supervised by a local board composed of half American and half Jamaican leaders. At this stage, the American staff works by invitation of the Jamaican churches. The American staff continues with the approval of the Jamaican leadership. Should the Jamaican leaders decide to continue without the American staff, then the American staff moves on to work elsewhere or returns home. The Jamaican leaders serve as overseers of their local churches that have been planted. The opinion of the American staff may be asked, but not necessarily followed.

4. Participation Stage. The American Board is no longer an equal partner, but only participates by invitation, whether that includes Revivals, Seminars, Special Classes or providing materials. The American staff may be in the country only be invitation of the Jamaican Churches or Jamaican Board of Trustees of the College which decides the specific assignment for the American staff. The money is raised by and directed through the Jamaican churches. The American staff works under the direction of the Jamaican Leadership.

This way the College can teach and equip and "Get out of the way!"
